Set the colour from #000000 for the left and transparent for the right side of the overlay. Then reduce the opacity to around 20-30%. The result should look similar to this. The added gradient will add emphasis to the change in direction by creating a false corner to the box. The jack-in-the-box and the circus image are well suited together. / You should blur or soften the label to match the source image. It's a little too sharp. Nice job on the corner part.
