Reflections pictures - SOURCE / I have one comment: Will you people who are giving this '4s' please explain why. the perspectives and reflections done in this are beyond 70% of the members abilities. A 4 vote means that picture has some merit, but needs fixing. Hsve the decency to explain what needs fixing. This is an advanced contest, I expect more from the entrants. / I haven't voted yet and I would not vote this a 4, but perhaps I can try to critique the image. First off: You set your own difficult level - reflections (as you called your image) are always a difficult stuff. I try to avoid them if it's possible 'cause I find them often too complex if not mission impossible You combined two sources with different light; the skull shot was taken with flashlight, the cat got the light from somewhere from the left (daylight I suppose). Although you managed that in a good way (the sources are necessary to see it) I'm missing some shodows - cat on skull, skull on ground and wall. The kitten seems out of place somehow... there's a conflict between her and the tooth - she would be better placed more to the left. Finally the reflections: You mirrowed the elements - ok, that's the "usual" way (I would take it, too). And it often works... but here I think the angle between object and eye of the beholder doesn't really allows it. For example the cat's foot: On the reflection you would see the bottom side with a shadow... you know what I want to say.... Difficult stuff I hope you find my comment useful. / Tom, That is EXACTLY what I am asking for. I wish the submit time were not ended, I would definitely make the shadows adjustment(oldtimerz, surely). I think the cats paw is doable. reflections are nearly infinite, but this one needed three at least to become phot-realistic. the problem I ran into was that the third reflection(combined and layed on both surfaces, added too much complexity to the image and tuned it into a mish-mash...ov course the number one suspect is not the technical problem, but operator. thanks again / What Tom said. In addition to that: Bad masking on the cat paw. The skull seems to sink into the table(.). What's that behind the skull supposed to be. Has Kitty lost its legs. The watermark in the bottom right corner doesn't help either. Sorry. :-| / hmmmm, the paw. okay that I can see. the rest of your comments show a rather strong lack of maturity. / If the thing behind the skull is supposed to be a shadow, you forgot to black it out If you got to be 100% more capable than the other peasants maybe you'd have noticed this A 4 also means too soft-hearted to give a 3. (I wasn't) / Apax, the 'thing' behind the skull is as Tom and most others already kne, is a reflection. But those people have talent and not simple spite. Also reflections and shadows can co-exist. I am quite satisfied now with having entered this...it shows people several things, one there are people like Tom, who are helpful, and then there are the others. dd
Reflections in Pond pictures - Giving this a try. / I am sorry, but I cannot see what you did... / The reflection is from the ladder and graffiti in a pool. Sorry it wasn't loud enough. / I agree with Edsonlopes. Almost looks unchanged.
