James Bond & Penguin pictures - View full size version. I'm trying to figure this shadow thing. Any suggestions. / Regarding shadows, first look at the shadows of the peaks in the background to get the direction of the light right. This will also tell you how long your shadows should be relative to the height of the object casting them. When the light source is distant (the sun), all shadows will be cast at the same angle. You've got your shadow directions, and I think lengths, wrong for both the man and penguin. The penguin's shadow color looks pretty good, but the man's needs some blue. The shadow of the penguin's left flipper (the shadow on the body) looks good, right direction too. Re the shadow shapes, I'm afraid you've got them all wrong. But I do this stuff rather intuitively, so I'll have to leave it to one of the experts to fill you in (in 200 words or less) on shadow shapes. Good luck. / Penguin shadow good. Bond shadow would at that distance be little more than a blue horizontal line, with the head end curving slightly up the slope. Try it and see. / The shadow on Bond was a really bad attempt. I just tried to make it little better. Let me know what you think. I'm by no means an artist but it's something I want to learn / Take a look in full view. The light's coming from the background, a bit to the right. You can see how the shadows of one or two of the big rocks. Penguin's would be coming toward you more, and correspond more to the shape of its body. Make a copy of the penquin shape, lock the clear pixels, invert it vertically, paint it with the shadow color, unlock it, move it into position, warp it to the shape you want, gaussian blur it some. Man's shadow probably wouldn't be much at all. / It makes me cold, just looking at it. Nice work.

Daniel Craig Penguin pictures - Added bow tie, should holster, and clips. Thanks for the suggestion. / I like the concept here, but somehow the head on the penguin body doesn't quite work. There doesn't seem to be enough to blend one to the other. Perhaps a bow tie, and mabe even a tux jacket would bring it in line better. / Thanks for the sugestion.
