Flying Mickey pictures - Here's the 21st century, flying, mickey. This should make him as popular as Harry Potter with the kids. / I think your idea is good, but the lower resolution of the cartoon parts really jumps out as being out of place. Finding sources of matching high quality really helps sell the beleivability of an entry. In my experience, finding useable sources is 75% of the battle. Good luck, and keep up the nice ideas. / I agree, this is a good idea and some nice work. In addition to the resolution, there appears to be a drop shadow on the head, which makes it appear like a piece of paper lying on another piece, as the shadow is falling 'on' clear sky. If you want to create a shadowlike outline around a layer -- which can give it definition and make it stand out from the background, as well as sometimes cover up slightly jagged edges -- and you're using Photoshop in a version with the appropriate layer styles (I don't know which ones do), what you can do is go to Layer Style --> Outer Glow, set the glow color to black and the Blend Mode to Multiply. Playing with size, spread and opacity allow you to create very solid, cartoonlike outlines that are much smoother than a Stroke effect, or subtle shadows that make an object stand out as three-dimensional without appearing to 'fall on' things in the distant background. Of course, I may be on totally the wrong foot, and just imagining a drop shadow, but heck, I figure someone might find this tip useful.
The Creation of Mickey Mouse pictures - Sorry for the small size. Couldn't find a larger source pic in a hurry. / Simple but effective concept. I wish you showed more of the original drawing, with more of Mickey.
