Funny Dali 2019

Dali 2019
"This Saturday is the 115th birthday of the Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, 1st Marquis of Dalí de Púbol, known professionally as Salvador Dalí. A prominent Spanish surrealist born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. He depicted a dream world in which commonplace objects are juxtaposed, deformed, or otherwise metamorphosed in a bizarre and irrational fashion. In celebration of the 115th birthday of world's most famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali, show what his art would be like if he created it these days. What modern elements would be included in Dali's paintings? Would he be doing advertisements, distorting celebrities/politicians , or maybe or even creating posters for movies? Many thanks to Denlig for the themepost.

Funny Easter 2019

Easter 2019
It's this time of the year again - Easter is on Sunday, April 21. Numerous Easter egg hunts will be organized in the United States and internationally. Bunny and eggs are the traditional symbols of this spring holiday, as they symbolize fertility. Easter was originally a day when pagans celebrated spring on the day of vernal equinox. "Eastre" was a pagan goddess of fertility, thus the holiday name. Give Easter theme to anything you wish. Some examples are: designing some Easter gadgets, giving Easter theme to movies and paintings, making Easter egg-heads out of politicians, dressing celebrities as Easter bunnies. These are just some ideas. Happy Upcoming Easter! Here are some past contest favorites to inspire with the beautiful "Purity" by funkwood, the hilarious "Where Easter Eggs Come From" by LunaC, and the brilliant ”Great Cosmic Easter Bunny” by AZRainman. Many thanks to Coxmix for the awesome themepost "Thumper".

Funny Van Gogh 2019

Van Gogh 2019
March 30 marks the 166th birthday of one of the most famous artists of all time, Vincent Willem van Gogh. Dutch painter, generally considered the greatest after Rembrandt van Rijn, and one of the greatest of the Post-Impressionists. Van Gogh hardly sold any of his works during his own life, and lived as a "starving artist" relying on a modest monthly income from his brother Theo. Vincent's art became astoundingly popular after his death, especially in the late 20th century, when his work sold for record-breaking sums at auctions around the world. In the history of art, few afflictions have generated as much curiosity as Vincent van Gogh’s severed ear. Two Hamburg-based scholars, Hans Kaufmann and Rita Wildegans, spent ten years sifting through police reports, witness statements, and other material before coming to the conclusion that Gauguin, an expert fencer, sliced off van Gogh’s earlobe with his sword during a fight. Whatever transpired, van Gogh took responsibility and was hospitalized; Gauguin left for Paris. To celebrate the 166th birthday of Vincent van Gogh, show how his art would be different if he created it nowadays. Some examples are - modernize his paintings by including modern objects, sceneries, or people; commercialize his works by turning them into advertisements for modern products, etc. These are just some ideas. Here is a great example by Qtrmoonshop and another great example by the late Ms preemiememe. Many thanks to Qtrmoonshop for the themepost.

Funny Michelangelo 2019

Michelangelo 2019
March 6th is the birthday of Michelangelo born 1475 in Caprese near Arezzo, Tuscany. Michelangelo was without doubt one of the most inspirational and talented artists in modern history. He was the first artist who was recognized during his life time as the western world underwent what was perhaps the most remarkable period of change since the decline of the Roman Empire. He was one of the leading lights of the Italian Renaissance, he manage to combine his high level of technical competence and his rich artistic imagination to produce the perfect High-Renaissance blend of aesthetic harmony and anatomical accuracy in his works. The Renaissance saw changes in all aspects of life and culture, with dramatic reforms sweeping through the worlds of religion, politics, and scientific belief. Together with Leonardo Da Vinci, the two stood out as strong and mighty-personalities with two irreconcilably opposed attitudes to art , yet with a bond of deep understanding between them. Many thanks to groundzero for the themepost.  Show how Michelangelo's masterpieces would change if he created them these days. For a good source of his artworks, click Michelangelo Famous Works. The contest blast from the past are Funkwood's  "Alien Statue of David" and Xaos54 's hilarious  "Statue of David Car Freshener"

Funny Renoir 2019

Renoir 2019
February 25 is the birthday of a French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. He experienced his initial acclaim when six of his paintings hung in the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. Renoir's paintings are notable for their vibrant light and saturated color, most often focusing on people in intimate and candid compositions. The female nude was one of his primary subjects. In characteristic Impressionist style, Renoir suggested the details of a scene through freely brushed touches of color, so that his figures softly fuse with one another and their surroundings. To view Renoir's artwork Click This Link Photoshop any painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir to include some modern elements in it. Think of product placements, celebrities, modern architecture, and even sci-fi features, etc. and show how Renoir paintings would be different if he painted them in the modern days. Some fine examples are "Beach Closed" by LunaC, and "Amy the Bohemian" by Denlig. Please Note: Limit 3 Entries Per Player. Also Note: if you use any of Renoir's paintings with "nude subjects", please cover them up before submitting. Many thanks to Swashbuckle for the themepost.
