Plant - Animal Hybrids pictures - Leaf Insects, and "Stick Insects" are two species of animal kingdom which are the best mimics of plants in their natural habitat. Through the evolution they changed their shape and color to match the changing plants. Considered the freaks of nature, these insects, sometimes called "walking leafs" and "walking sticks", are getting popular to be kept as pets.
Photoshop hybrids of animals and plants. Note that simple camouflage paint jobs are not enough - you need to have elements of shape and texture merged across plants and animals. This is a broad contest and we will allow any species of animals (except humans), as well as all varieties of plants including trees, flowers, fruits and vegetables. Human Fish Hybrids pictures -
Surgeons in Great Britain use shark skin grafts to help regenerate human skin on some patients with skin burns. Apparently such treatment tricks the human body into regenerating new skin cells, rather than producing scar tissue. The latest patient is a burned terror suspect Kafeel Ahmed who is still in coma after he crashed a Jeep Cherokee at Glasgow Airport terminal on June 30, to cause a blast.
Photoshop any hybrids between humans and fish. Give fish human body parts, or vise versa, cover people with fish scales, etc. Research showed that goldfish, for example, has a memory span of about 30 seconds. We can probably find some celebrities like that who descended from fish. Another example of natural man fish hybrid would be sharks and lawyers. Any type of fish is allowed, but please remember that dolphins and whales are not fish, but mammals. You are welcome to use celebrities, politicians, or any unknown humans in this contest.
Appliance Hybrids pictures - This is a themed contest. Do NOT edit the theme post. You are asked to create any hybrid small appliance in this contest. Combine any two or more small household appliances and create a new appliance or gadget as in the theme post.
You will have 3 days to submit your entry. Submitting it early will give you plenty of time to read the critique comments and edit your image accordingly. Typical FreakingNews entry guidelines also apply. You can find them here.
Your images will be critiqued even if you ask for no critique in the apprentice contests.

Human Animal Hybrid pictures - In his speech on the 31st, Bush said, "Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research...creating human-animal hybrids" Not only is this comment more than a little bit off the wall, it is also ironic that Bush would be the first to recieve such treatments (as shown above.) Enjoy Antlers = deer eye = cat ear = donkey nose = monkey tongue = snake every thing else = good ol' dubya / I like the 'distress signal' on his lapel.
Watermelon Rhino Hybrid pictures - / man you broke all the limits of imagination.... Awesome idea, also well done. / big watermelon lets see you not notice that in your garden / The texture is well blended, and the watermelon horn is a great touch.One of my favories in this contest.
Hybrid Animal pictures - Link Here / I don't get the connection of your image showing a crow with a goat head to the story you linked to. Is it suppose to mean that goats are cold. Sorry for my ignorance.
Walnut Turtle Hybrid pictures - / i love this one, it remember me my turtle (+) / Another turtle in the background is a nice touch. Overall solid, professional work. / great junka. this one deserves gold for sure. once again... make us proud...
hybrid pictures - The Prius hybrid's new auxiliary power plant provides impressive mileage from beer and other beverages / Now that's clever. Just hope the oil companies don't try to have you 'rubbed out'. / , an extra mark for the humor. Feet.. / Great idea. This would put gas stations out of business.
Hybrid Mutant pictures - It's unidentified and horrifying. Seeing that it's Maine, my guess is that Steven King is responsible for it somehow. Mystery Animal of Maine / Great composition and execution. My fav so far.
HUMMER HYBRID pictures - . . . because you asked for it, America. / Nukular will be cheaper if they keep raising prices. / "Big and gas guzzling" . . . and my gas/nuclear Hummer Hybrid gets whooped by a souped up kid's tricycle. Go figure. / . . . but many thanks to the incredibly perceptive (but apparently low-karma) person gave me that ten
Mercury Safari Hybrid pictures - source / a little odd, but still nice line work and blending. / love the idea. my only critique is the glass window. / Interesting concept. A slight misalignment of the bottom right corner on the upper unit but it is still a very good example of blending. Only other critique would be to move the feet of the giraffe so that they are behind the front panel. Nice entry / very nice execution combined with a great crazy idea
