Otherwise, it's a nice idea. / Don't worry, kitty, its bark is worse than its bite. / Let me guess: the cat's source pic had a blue background. Try brushing the blue fur with the sponge tool (set to desaturate, maybe 30%-40% flow), and maybe the dodge tool (set to midtones) if you need that as well. / Tiddlycove nailed this on technique. On the positive, very nice work integrating a very foreign element into the tree. Good chop. / no time, no time .... gotta earn bread-- but thanks all.

Pity the photoshopping is quite rough for the girl - look at sharp edges of the legs. / i know what you mean, it was very close to the end of entry time when i got the idea and had to rush a bit. my intention was to bend her legs at the knee to.......wait... i have just noticed you can edit after closing. aaaaaaarrrrrggggg.. / I didn't see the original, but the legs still need some blending and shadow. A super idea .. / Blended the legs now, I am sick for not realising that I could edit after the closing dates. DOH.
