When you are masking an area of an image, you need to be aware of what colours you are selecting before you remove them from your work. I am guessing that there was a colour or colours within the background of the original source image which was also present in the dress. The removal of this has left a very rough and pixelated finish to your work. The same is noticeable around the perimeter of the figure. Try to adjust the settings on the selection tools which you are using so that you are only removing what you want to remove and are not damaging the remainder of your work. Although masking can take a considerable amount of time on some images; done correctly, it will prevent you from having to spend additional time in redrawing segments of your work as you have attempted to do with the hair. Return to your original source image and play around with just removing smaller segments of colour and see how you get on. / Thanks I will try I don't really know how to use the tool all that well. Let's hope I get better. / Well that is good that you are going to at least try as that is how you will become one of the great CHOPpers on here . If you are using the Magic Wand tool in selecting part of the background image to be removed, then you will see a tolerance setting that you can adjust. The higher the number, the larger the selection will be made when you click the layer. So you will want to have this set quite low at first. You will also want to check that the anti-aliased is used as this will leave a much smoother edge to your work. When you are doing this, make sure that you can see your entire canvas area so that you are aware of what is actually being selected before you delete the selected area(s). Don't worry if you are unable to remove all of the deisred area in this manner. You can go back later and clean up areas by using the erasure tool with varying brush and pressure settings to get your work exactly how you want. It takes time to learn all the little tricks but if you keep practicing on various images then it will become much easier for you. Don't let your placement in this contest discourage you from learning how to use Photoshop or how much fun it can be. / Well done, welcome to freaking news. Transsexual American Gothic pictures - I just couldn't help myself. / 'American Gothic' gets chopped so much that it is bound to be duplicated in a contest. Click Here. Your version is also a good one. Nice and clean work. Great minds think alike, I guess. / ACK. I should have known it had already been done. Was a can't-sleep-in-the-middle-of-the-night inspiration and I was quite amused while working on it. Sorry c00per. I didn't mean to "copy" your chop. / Things like this happen naturally I suppose. I think we should allow this entry to stay because the author obviously came up with the idea independently and did slightly different execution. / It's ok, no harm done. Like I said, this was bound to happen with all the chops that 'American Gothic' is subjected to. The good news is that you did it justice with a nice clean chop so your entry certainly should not be removed from the contest.

American Gothic pictures - / Fair work, but I would add more elements since the baseball takes only a small part of the entry now. E.g. try adding baseball cap. / It's so nice but too simple, I would like to see more use of the ball ource or as Newsy says more baseball elements. Anyway the texture on the ball it's awesome... you got an extra point
Modern American Gothic pictures - Happy Man / Girl's head may be a bit too big compared to the original painting. Otherwise decent blending.
Gothic Walters pictures - SOURCE PICS Barbara Walters all dress up and ready for a serious indepth interview. / Good job but I would choose some natural background. This one looks more like poster
Gothic Halle pictures - / this is great I am just learning how to use photo shop. Can you tell me how to do the tattoos. I wanted some on my pic but didn't know how. / Quality work, but I'd make the lipstick black for full goth effect
