It was Romney aide Eric Fehrnstrom who suggested that the general election campaign would begin with a blank slate, like a shaken Etch a Sketch. Since then Mitt Romney used Etch-a-Sketch as a symbol of his campaign - and after he won the Wisconsin primary — he reached for his Etch-a-Sketch again with a smile. Romney almost locked the Republican nomination, but the unattractive picture left from a GOP primary race won't be easy to shake-up and erase.
Now that we've seen Etch-a-Sketch being used in the Romney's campaign, let's find more creative uses for this device in politics or other areas. Can it be used in medicine, economics, art, science, history, etc.?

It doesn't take batteries and makes no noise, and it's a toy that we can all relate to from our own childhoods. Etch-A-Sketch, the classic children's drawing toy, has turned 51 this month.
Over 100 million of the toys have sold worldwide since it first went on sale in the US in July 1960 for $2.99.
The world's most famous Etch-A-Sketch artist is Tim George of Ohio, aka "Mr. Etch A Sketch", whose motto is "Shake my hand, not my work." Many of his works are the portraits of American presidents. Tim said each piece takes about 15 hours and he likes to do it in one sitting with only bathroom breaks.
To celebrate the 51st anniversary of Etch-A-Sketch,
photoshop it any way you wish. Some examples are - merging Etch-A-Sketch with some objects or animals, creating art with it, finding alternative uses for Etch-A-Sketch, showing them in movie posters and paintings, etc.

Ohio Statehouse features an interesting exhibition this February - 56 art pieces created with Etch-A-Sketch. All 56 pieces framed in the famous red-plastic borders were created by Tim George, aka "Mr. Etch A Sketch", whose motto is "Shake my hand, not my work."
