Money talks? Self-financed outsider Rick Scott pulled off a surprising victory in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, defeating state attorney general and GOP establishment favorite Bill McCollum.
August polls showed McCollum in the big lead, but as Scott kept pouring his own $50 million into the campaign, the McCollum lead got narrower and disappeared by Tuesday. Scott was declared the winner with over 3 percent margin.
In November Scott will run against Democrat Alex Sink for Florida's governor. Current polls show Alex Sink as favorite in this race. But Scott has something every candidate lusts after: money. And lots of it. If he's willing to keep pouring his own money into the campaign, Scott will be able to blanket the state with TV, radio, and direct mail throughout the general election.
Rick Scott is known in Florida as a wealthy health care businessman, but to most Americans he is relatively unknown outsider. Media called him "a dark horse with lots of money". Let's show the US and the rest of the world more of Rick Scott. E.g. show what skeletons he might have in his closet, what scandals he might have been involved in, what hobbies Scott may have, how he spent his childhood, or just photoshop him any way you wish.
