Tom Cruise Chinese Style funny pictures - Source / Part of the hair and eyebrows look hand drawn, otherwise good job / I didn't know hand drawing was a problem. After all we have cartoons on here now and 3D style chops. / It's not a problem, Christine. You can use any technique. I see what Newsey is saying now that I look very close. You could spend a few more hrs tightening if you so choose. The eyebrows look a little fused but that is easilly remedied with some slashes of highlight with the pencil tool on the hairline setting. Then maybe a little smudging just to ever-so-slightly blend the highlights. On the hair, same thing. However, on the bangs there is a brush aura that creates a gray diffusion. I realize that's may have been intended as shadow but using black causes a disagrement in skin shadow if used alone. I also see that you added some burnt umber to create shadow around the hair as well. Good idea. The only thing I found that works in getting rid of foggy auras around the hair rods is going in pixel by pixel and sharpening. Robert Scholer, I believe one of the greatest living portrait artists, taught me a trick about facial toning. He would add slight washes of vermillion and cobalt to shadow areas and only sparringly used black. He also pointed out to me that whatever colors exist in the environment, they should be presented as reflected values in the shadowing. These values are of course rediculously minimal but this kind of attention to detail is why he fetches anywhere from 50 to 250K US for a single portrait these days. And we have no excuse for not employing the equivalent techniques in digital medium. These effects are just a filter click away. Anyway, the Cruise chop works for me. Just keep in mind Shadow and highlights. They make or break a piece. |
