Partial Face Transplants pictures - [ A year after a Frenchwoman received the world's first partial face transplant, doctors say the operation was a success and she is gaining more and more sensitivity and facial mobility. British and American doctors already have plans for a first full-face transplant. ] Even if full face transplants become successful, politicians will never accept them. It's just too expensive to get transplants on two faces. In this contest you are asked to perform partial face transplants on politicians and celebrities. The right half of a face has to be from one celebrity and the left half from another. Jessica Biel can be a good image source as well as others. Politicians and celebrities face mixes are also allowed and cross gender face breeds too.
Partial Face Transplants images - Since the last time we ran a Partial Face Transplants contest, it was featured on numerous blogs and websites. UPDATE: Several pictures from this contest were published in the print edition of the Daily Mail - Thursday, September 6 issue, as well as in their online edition. To give this wonderful idea a new spin and to show our new creations to all the visitors who come to see partial face transplants, we are running a second round of this contest today. Photoshop partial face transplants by merging VERTICAL halves of faces of any celebrities, politicians, famous people, or historical figures. A left face half has to be from one person and a right face half from another. When performing your "surgery", try to make the final face look as photo realistic as you can, and let us know which two people you are merging - either in the entry title or in the author comments.
Partial Face Transplants pictures - A year and a half later, the recipient of the first successful partial face transplant is showing good progress - even her smile has returned completely. The French woman, Isabelle Dinoire, was the first person in the world to undergo a successful partial face transplant operation, and she has been under a close attention of her doctors and the media since then. After the success of Isabelle, only two more operations of such kind have been successfully performed in the world - one in China and another one in France. Inspired by the results, doctors say that full face transplant operation may become feasible sooner than we expect. This contest is a spin off of our two popular "Partial Face Transplant" contests that have been featured by many media publications including People Magazine and The Daily Mail. Today we are going to make it somewhat different from the previous two contests - the task is to perform partial face transplants on the celebrities or politicians of your choice by COMBINING THEIR UPPER AND LOWER FACE HALVES. Don't just paste over the eyes, or the mouth, it has two be upper and lower face halves combined, and don't forget the nose - it has to consist from two different celebrity noses too.
Artistic pictures - This artistic contest will run for 2 days to determine the best artistic picture of 2005. (Entrants: please feel free to edit the description: view your entry, click the edit entry link, and then click the Change title, category & comments without reuploading file link near the top!)
Partial Gender Transplants pictures - A number of studies of the recent years has shown that when it comes to love, the old rule "opposites attract" may not be so true. Close examination of faces of thousands of couples has shown many similarities and common facial traits among spouses or lovers. People tend to subconsciously choose a partner that looks similar to him / her one way or another. So "similarities attract" may be a better rule, at least in the recent years. Furthermore, when people start living together they develop similar face characteristics together by naturally copying each other's facial emotions and expressions. Let us show which celebrities of opposite gender share enough facial characteristics to make a natural couple: You will need to choose two celebrities of the OPPOSITE GENDER, and transplant a VERTICAL half of a face from one celebrity to another. Here's a good example. This contest is another spin-off of our popular Partial Face Transplants contest, which has been featured in many magazines including People, Daily Mail, etc. In addition to celebrities, you can also use politicians, famous word figures, or characters from old paintings as one of the sources in a merged face. Note: the two faces you use as sources do not have to be a real couple in life, but they do have to be of OPPOSITE GENDER.
Anorexic Art pictures - Anorexia is a condition when a slim person would try anything to become even slimmer. The opposite would be a fat person who would do nothing to become slimmer. They even have a name for it - Rosie O'Donnel. In this contest you are asked to take any characters from art works (paintings, drawings, statues) and make them look anorexic. Let them lose weight so that they look much slimmer than in the originals. You may wish to browse our past anorexia contest for the inspiration and photoshop slimming techniques.

Star Wars Art pictures - Legendary film director George Lucas is hiring writers for the Star Wars saga, which is set to continue in the form of TV series. Lucas has been hiring writers for this TV project since February 2006, and he is now getting some writers from outside of the US. The filmmaker invited the writers to spend a week at his Skywalker Ranch in November, where they are going to finalize the story plot for the 13 episodes of the Star Wars TV show. To celebrate the upcoming continuation of the legendary saga, put Star Wars characters (Darth Vader, Luke, Yoda, etc.) into the following works of art: paintings, drawings, sketches or statues. Changing an original surrounding (e.g. background) of a painting (drawing, etc.) to a Star Wars theme is a plus. And last but not least... Use the force!
Earth Day pictures - Move the earth: manipulate landscapes to look like objects/people/animals.
Extra Body Parts pictures - Create new and odd appendages for humans including new hands, new feet, legs and toes.
Partial Aging pictures - Scientists discovered why some aging brains stay sharp. When aging process naturally worsens the memory, brains concentrate more, which provides daily brain exercise necessary to keep it sharp. The study finds that people with poor memory in their older years are normally sharper than their peers. Keeping brain young slows the aging process for a whole body and helps to stay young. Brain is divided into two hemispheres - right and left. Most people have one brain hemisphere more active and dominating the other one. Depending on which brain side is dominant, determines many character traits - e.g. almost all "right-brainers" are left handed. In the light of the above study, exercising brains helps to slow aging, but most people have one brain hemisphere dominant over the other. Can we thus expect that aging process may go unevenly in right and left parts of one's body? Take the same celebrity (or politician, or otherwise a famous character - from history, movie, paintings, etc.) and VERTICALLY merge left and right parts of the face THE SAME PERSON at different ages - old and young. A good example would be merging right half of Al Pacino's face when he was young (or even a kid) with left half of his current face, or even with his old face in the future. You are welcome to choose either the real photos from younger and older years of your celebrity (then vertically merge the face halves), OR use one face (photo) and make one (vertical) half older or younger. This contest is a spin-off of our popular Partial Face Transplants contest, which has been published in many magazines including People, Daily Mail, etc.
Living Art pictures - [ This holiday season in Florence, Italy, you can see more artists impersonating characters from paintings and statues - street artists dressed and posing as Mona Lisa, and "living statues" of monks. ] The art of living statues requires a great deal of patience and physical stamina - people dressed as some characters don't move for hours. The only other people on earth that can do this are government employees. In this contest you are asked to integrate parts of old oil paintings or statues into modern settings using a masterpiece of your choice. This contest was inspired by our apprentice contest Masterpieces Modernized which contains perfect examples of entries we are looking for in this contest.
Dinosaurs in Art pictures - Creation Museum in Kentucky shows full size dinosaurs models on Noah's Ark and claims they coexisted with humans. Children ask many question at this exibition. Art Robot pictures - Japanese scientists have created a new generation robot which reacts with complex human emotions to almost every word it hears. The robot is called Kansei, and has 19 movable parts to show facial expressions and its database contains over 500,000 keywords constantly updated online. Kansei smiles when he hears "Tokyo," and smiles at "Paris" unlesss followed by "Hilton" - then it shudders. In this contest you are asked to add robots or robotic machines to art work, or make a complete replacement of any character in paintings with a robot. Feel free to build new robots or use existing ones, however, you are Not allowed to turn figures in paintings or sculptures into cyborgs.
Monsters in Art pictures - This Halloween season monster costumes and masks are selling like hot cakes. Whether you want to be Frankenstein, Mummy, or Dracula, stores have something for everybody. While kids and teenagers make most are the primary consumers of the Halloween goods, some 25% of the Halloween merchandise this year goes to middle or even older generation. Photoshop monsters as characters in the following works of art: old paintings, statues, drawings or sketches. You are welcome to choose any known monsters (e.g. Godzilla, Predator, Gollum, etc.) or design your own monster based on the character in the painting (drawing, statue, etc.). A good example may be Frankenstein posing as Mona Lisa.
Michelangelo Art pictures - Show how Michelangelo's masterpieces would change if he created them these days.
Christmas Art pictures - This year's Christmas Tree at the White House will be decorated with ornaments that feature America's national parks - the theme chosen by the first lady Laura Bush. The artists to draw these ornaments were chosen from a nation-wide contest which attracted over 347 artists who sent their ornament designs. Photoshop Christmas Art by giving a Christmas theme to old paintings, drawings, or statues. Dress up the characters in paintings (statues, drawings) as Santa or elves, add candy canes, Christmas tree and socks to the paintings, add snow - these are just some ideas.
Cartoons pictures - Photoshop cartoons by showing what product endorsements cartoons might get involved in. From Scooby Doo to Mickey Mouse, what products or services would you like to see them sell or promote?
Cartoons images - Imagine what would happen if Disney and all of the other cartoon and superhero character production companies began laying off our favorite movie and cartoon characters? Using a cartoon character, superhero, or computer created character (real or drawn), create images of where we might see them end up. Use images of characters like Shrek, Mickey, Spiderman or any other similar fictional characters we've come to love.
Space Art pictures - Scientific community around the world celebrates 50 years in space. Fifty years ago Russians launched the first satellite into space, starting the space era and the space race against the United States. The first Russian satellite was named Sputnik, which emerged within the Cold War atmosphere and meant as an intermediary step to taking a military missile into space, according to the Sputnik designer Boris Chertok. To celebrate 50 years in space, take compositions from paintings (drawings or sketches allowed too) and make them happen in space surroundings or on other planets. Some examples are: Mona Lisa posing on the moon landscape, or American Gothic happening on Mars.
Heart Celebrities pictures - This Valentine's Day people are presenting their loved ones with heart-shaped gifts, candies, and cards. For centuries the heart symbol has been used to signify love, - the first depictions of the heart symbol date back to seventh century B.C. For this Valentine's Day, let's photoshop celebrities and politicians with heart-shaped eyes, or heart-shaped mouth, or heart-shaped face/head. Let's see if they are still recognizable and if they look better this way.
Paul McCartney pictures - Paul McCartney glanced ahead into his future in Beatles' song "When I'm 64". Let's turn things around and put aged (current or even more) Paul McCartney into past photos of young Beatles. Your entries have to include other young Beatles member(s) unaged next to aged Paul.
Nuclear Art pictures - International Atomic Energy Agency has reported that Iran has solved its technological problems and is beginning to enrich uranium for military purposes. In this contest you are asked to photoshop nuclear theme into works of art - paintings, drawings and statues. Examples may show protective wear against radioactivity on people, nuclear weapons, their explosions and aftermath, etc.
Walmart, Starbucks, McDonalds pictures - Walmart, Starbucks, McDonalds, and any other store may appear in unusual places. Where will we see them next? Create images of any popular store in unusual places.
Earthquake in Hawaii pictures - [ Hawaii was shaken by a strong earthquake this Sunday. Even though there were no victims, the last Hawaiian earthquake this strong (magnitude of 6.5) struck more than 20 years ago. ] I've never been to Hawaii (nor have I been anywhere else), but it looks like it's not a good time to visit. There are several things to keep in mind though, if you want to live like a true Hawaiian: You measure the water for the rice by the knuckle of your index finger. Your only suit is a bathing suit. You are barefoot in most of your elementary school pictures. You drive barefoot too. You honk your horn only once a year during the safety check. You have a sister, cousin, auntie, or mom named "Honey Girl" or... You do not understand the concept of North, South, East, and West, but instead give directions as Mauka, Makai, Diamond Head, Ewa, and use landmarks instead of street names. Hawaii or Havaii? Havaii. Thanks! You're velcome! I'm almost done adjusting my lifestyle to the Hawaiian list above. Which means I am almost ready for a visit. Earthquakes got nothing on me - I survived the highway patrol catching me driving barefoot in my bathing suit, dammit. And I'll let you figure out what "barefoot" means as my bathing suit is my birthday suit. In this contest you are asked to photoshop anything connected to the earthquake in Hawaii. Examples could be new Hawaiian tourism adverts, magazine covers, creative ways and devices to cope with Hawaiian earthquake, etc.
Party pictures - Create images of how animals party with each other, or create supplies and beverages for a party with an animal theme.
Escher Art? pictures - Show how Escher art works would be different if he created them nowadays - edit his masterpieces and/or use them to promote products, services, or companies, etc.
Art Fashion pictures - Surprising news from archaeology this week - recent excavations of ancient European settlement showed that women wore short tops and mini skirts as long as 7000 years ago. Such "modern" women's wardrobe was shown in the figurines of young women found at the excavation site. The findings prove that even prehistoric women dressed to impress and had passion for fashion. Let us prove that women and men had passion for fashion even in the old times. In this contest you are asked to change or add modern clothes to the characters in the following works of art - old paintings, drawings, or statues.
Divers in Art pictures - An average American diver is getting older. The diving sport is recently becoming popular among older people, which increased the average diver age to 38 years, compared to 35 years in 2000. In order to prove that diving has always been popular, photoshop divers in art by turning any characters in old paintings, drawings, or statues into divers. Add diving suits and diving equipment to them, or at least add a snorkel and a mask. Example: "The birth of Adam diver" from the Sistine chapel.
Partial Toys pictures - After recalls of toys made in China, U.S. lawmakers are pushing for tighter laws on imports of Chinese toys and higher safety standards. Chinese toy industry is suffering a massive drop in demand from the United States, due to some toys containing toxic levels of lead and other heavy metals. With all these toys that China produced and can not sell, perhaps they can still use them in the following way: Photoshop any products, objects, architecture, animals, insects or people partially made with toy parts. A good example may be a car which has toy doors and wheels (life size), or a gun which has toy gun parts. Please remember that cyborgs and robots are not made of toy parts and will be disqualified. E.g. A body with a toy head is an example of acceptable entry, but a body with a cyborg head is not acceptable in this contest.
Cartier-Bresson pictures - Okay, I'll admit to you that Cartier-Bresson was virtually unknown to me, however, his photography is famous throughout the world. Your mission is to add your own twist to a Cartier-Bresson photo. You can modernize it, or add your own sense of humor to one of his famous (or not so famous) photographs.
Art Movies pictures - Despite the poor reviews from movie critics, Da Vinci Code movie has been so popular with the viewers that Columbia Pictures is making a sequel. The bad news is that the Da Vinci Code sequel production has been temporarily stopped because of the Hollywood writers strike. The movie was originally planned for release in 2008, but now has been rescheduled for May 2009. Photoshop characters from the old paintings (drawings and statues are ok too) starring in any movies. You are welcome to change movie titles or make sequels. Some examples are: Adam starring as James Bond, American Gothic couple starring as Mr. and Mrs. Smith., etc.
WalMart Clinics pictures - WalMart is opening 400 in-store clinics. They are called "walk-in" clinics because no appointment is necessary and you can visit them 7 days a week, 365 days a year. While it only costs $65 per visit, Wal-Mart clinics make big bucks. Primary patients are senior citizens with memory problems who visit them 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In this contest you are asked to photoshop anything related to WalMart clinics and health care this lagest retailer may provide. We will also accept images of related health care products and drugs Wal-Mart may offer.
Artificial Sun? pictures - OK, we all know the moon is made of cheese, but what is an artificial sun made of? Imagine that the "natural sun" went on vacation, and you need to save the world by constructing an artificial sun. Will you use any of the household items / products / materials of huge sizes to be the new sun, or any new technology? You are the creator today. Your entries can show the sun as seen from space or from earth. You are welcome to include surroundings (e.g, beach or city view) in your entries if you show snapshots "from earth".
Jimmy Carter pictures - If Jimmy Carter stops fishing, what will we find him doing?
Paper Art? pictures - Show how things/objects would look if they were made out of paper (or using paper parts) rather than original materials. Paper car? Paper PC? Paper houses? It's your call!
Oil Art pictures - The price of oil may reach $100 as early as next year unless OPEC members unexpectedly increase production. Higher oil prices mean higher revenues for energy producers like Exxon Mobil Corp., and higher costs and more bankruptcies among the airlines. US and other oil importing countries may expect accelerated inflation and devaluation of currencies. Let us imagine that oil always ruled the world even in the medieval days. Photoshop works of art (paintings, sketches, or statues) - to include any elements connected to oil - refineries, gas stations, etc. You are encouraged to show oil being worshipped, angels with gas pumps, people praying for oil, etc. Feel free to change characters in paintings with politicians and celebrities.
Wal-Mart pictures - Create advertising, new products, flyers, or any changes (such as new employees or a celebrity spokesperson, etc) that Wal-Mart (or any other retailer you select) will have to change to remain competitive in the marketplace.

Some examples are: merge Earth with other objects or animals, include it in the movies and paintings, show what life would be like if Earth ruled the world, etc.
Art Ethnicity pictures - The transfer of Da Vinci painting from Italy to Japan for exhibition, gathered many protesters in Italy, saying that this national treasure needs to stay home. What a coincidence. Italians feel the same way about George Bush. Change the ethnicity / nationality of the characters in famous art pieces. Examples may include showing Mona Lisa as African American, or Venus de Milo as Asian.
Martha Stewart pictures - It looks like Martha is in the news again... Create images showing Stewart doing things that break her parole! Did she go snowboarding or to the beach? Show us Martha Stewart breaking her parole.
Celebrity Art? pictures - If you haven't heard already there will be a new chain of Hotels called "Nicky O", based on the designs, drawings and collages by none other than Nicky Hilton, the youngest of the Hilton sisters. She got a bunch of investors to invest a bunch of money into this hotel project based on a "bunch" of her masterpieces. To build a business around Nicky's drawings, is not like asking Michelangelo to paint the Sistine chapel, it's more like asking Britney Spears design a new logo for Nike, and if the project is a success, Nike will sell the whole twelve and a half pairs of sneakers a year. To be honest I am not surprised the younger Hilton sister is finding more and more talents in herself - the latest one being a drawing talent the size of the Empire State Building - it's just a law of nature that when a person becomes a celebrity they suddenly discover a whole set of their talents, drawing being just one of them. In this contest you are asked to create drawings, paintings, design sketches, collages, and logos created by celebrities and politicians. Don't just show us flawless works of art - show the real deal with sloppy drawing style and perhaps some notes on it from author celebs/polits. Any type of drawing technique is allowed. This is a twisted contest where you have to do a good job creating a bad art. If the concept is still not clear enough or you would like some quick ideas, just think of the magic word "MS PaintBrush". P.S. Thank God Nicky is doing this project without the help of Paris, or the chain of hotels might well have been named "Nicky HO", instead of "Nicky O". And by golly I bet such HOtels would have been much more successful, given the Hilton sisters' background and "hands on" experience.
Partial Illusions pictures - Latest marketing trick in advertising on cars is to do a paint-job which extends a picture of a driver. Such gimmick quickly grabs the viewer's attention which then slides to an advertising message next to the paint-job. Take any object/person and partially cover it with another object with a picture that continues the partially covers object - this way that the whole composition makes an illusion that the two objects are part of the whole. Think of paintings, magazines, buildings with paint-jobs covering anything extending its picture and making an illusion. Here's an example 1 , example 2, and example 3. This contest is a generalization of our popular celebrity money contest where celebrities needed to be partially covered with banknotes.
Art pictures - Here's your chance to trash famous works of art. Deface sculptures, paintings, or any well know work of art.
Martin Scorsese Movies pictures - Academy Award-winning Italian-American film director Martin Scorsese is celebrating his 65th birthday this Saturday. From "Taxi Driver" to "The Departed" he produced iconic movies from the 70s to the current days. Despite the numerous Academy Awards nominations for "the best director", Scorsese received his first "director" Oscar only in 2006, for "The Departed". The audience of the 2006 Oscars honored him with one of the longest standing ovations in the history of Acaremy Awards. To mark the 65th birthday of the great film director, photoshop any of the Martin Scorsese movies any way you wish. Some examples are: designing a sequel or a prequel movie, changing the cast, merging his movies with any other movies. See what creative titles you can come up with.

Alton Kelley was most known for creating psychedelic posters and psychedelic album covers for rockers in the 60s, including such big names as the Grateful Dead (famous "skull and roses" poster), Journey, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and Steve Miller. Kelley's works greatly influenced the leading artists of Psychedelic Art movement such as Rick Griffin, who moved to San Francisco after seeing Kelly's psychedelic posters and soon started producing his own. To pay our tribute to Alton Kelley, photoshop Psychedelic Art any way you wish. Some examples are: create your own psychedelic art, or photoshop any famous posters, movies or paintings to give them Here's one psychedelic theme.
Blending City Art pictures - [ Traffic-signal boxes in Stamford, Conn are getting a facelift from the local urban artists, who are tired of seeing them as plain boxes. And it's not graffitti as you may think, it's a realistic art which blends traffic-signal boxes with surroundings. About 50 of the city’s 190 boxes, once covered with graffiti, are now suitable for framing, and many echo the surroundings. ] In this contest you are asked to give artistic paint jobs to city structures (we will allow buildings, statues, monuments, bridges & arches) which will blend the structures with their surroundings. Please refer to this paintjob of this traffic-signal box for a good example. Make sure your paintjobs are artistic paintjobs, rather than just pasted photos.
