| | The British Scientist Stephen Hawking is scheduled for zero gravity
flight.
The specially modified Boeing 747 will take a parabolic plunge over
the Atlantic Ocean during which, the physicist will experience 25
second state of weightlessness. The normal charge for such no gravity
dive is about four thousand dollars, but the company said they are
going to waive the fee for Mr. Hawking. "It's a privilege to have him
on board," said the Ceo of US based Zero
Gravity corporation which will be
conducting the flight. The plane will take off and land at NASA
Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and two doctors and three nurses will
be accompanying the British scientist to make sure he does not suffer
any negative health effects during the zero gravity flight.
Hawking said he is looking forward to this experience. "For someone
like me with weak muscles and wheelchair, it'll be a true privilege
to experience zero gravity. There's a second reason I want to do it
too. I always wanted to go into space, and have been fascinated by
space since my young years. This is my first step of going into space
and I have reserved a place of scheduled sub-orbital flight in 2009.
Humans will not survive if they do not break into space. Such zero
gravity flights help us realize there are forces of nature we can beat
with technology and science."
Stephen Hawking has been regarded as one of the greatest physicists of
the last century, and his works include books on formation of universe
and black holes. Weightlessness has been his recent passion.
According to him it may become more of a hobby, if her gets the hang of
it. The zero gravity flight is scheduled for this Thursday. |
