Women in Space

Contest Directions:  I don't want to alarm you but it seems they have found one woman on earth who agreed to go on for 10 days wearing the same outfit, with no shopping, no beauty saloons, and no other women to chat with.
"Anousheh Ansari from Dallas will become the first woman space tourist this month. She will join astronauts in the Russian capsule Soyuz launch (scheduled for Sept. 18) and will spend 10 days at an international space station before returning to Earth with its current crew. The woman paid over $20 million for this trip."
Well, here we are - women tourists in space. It won't be long before women space tourists will change the face of space travel. Pink space shuttles will be a mess packed with elegant astronaut suits (or should I say dresses), matching pairs of shoes, and gazillions of chocolate bars, perfume, and make-up items. The International Space Station will look like a spa, with attached department stores. Will there still be room left for science, you ask? Of course. Space research topics will include: "Does this space suit make my butt look fat?", "How to eat 100 astro chocolate bars and not gain weight", and "Is there life on Snickers?"
In this contest you are asked to show how women would rule the space exploration and tourism - womanize astronaut clothes & accesories, spaceships, equipment, etc. Tag funny pix women space

This contest is fueled by the following news:
Women in space news: Anousheh Ansari really was like many, many children -- growing up she dreamed and wondered about the stars above, about the heavens. During the past month, the Dallas resident actually came a step closer to becoming the first woman space tourist of all time. She is slated to be on the Soyuz launch that is slated to occur on September 18th. She will celebrate her 40th birthday in space. She said that she has always dreamed of heading off into space. Ansari spoke with Bill Weir of Good Morning America. She actually will be able to spend a full ten days at the international space station. She will return to earth with two space station crew members who have been on the space station since April 1st. In the process, Ansari will spend her birthday with astronauts and cosmonauts high above the earth. The trip comes complete with a $20 million price tag. She has already begun her pre-flight training. She was excited to learn that they did have chocolate to eat on the space station, the candy being one of her favorites. Anousheh Ansari said that when she was a little girl her dream was to go to Mars one day. Data from Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter have revealed significant layers of ice under the rocky scree at the foot of mountains. Glacier with a thickness of hundreds of meters has been found covering an area of thousands of square kilometers, and its further study can provide information about the history of Martian climate. As per the data of landers, element composition of the surface layer of Martian soil is different at different places. Main component of the soil is silica (20-25%), containing an admixture of hydrated iron oxides (up to 15%), giving reddish color to the soil. Other admixtures consist of considerable amounts of compounds containing sulfur, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, sodium (few percents for each). At the time of sunrise and sunset, Martian sky at the horizon has a reddish-pink color, and color of sky around regions in close proximity to the disk of sun varies from blue to purple, which is quite the opposite to what we see at earth during dawn. In recent years, increase in tourists into space is noticed. And in the coming years, regular commercial suborbital flights should start. However, in 1960-1970's, when the main regulations of space law were being formulated, for obvious reasons, not much thought was put in about the tourism. Therefore, today there is no international legal distinction between the professional astronauts & tourists. They all are given the honorary status of envoys of mankind in outer space, and the States have an obligation to provide them all possible assistance in case of accident, miseries or emergency landing outside its territory. In outer space, including on celestial bodies, the astronauts of one state should render all possible assistance to the astronauts of other states (even if they call themselves astronauts). International law consider space as partially demilitarized space. In orbit around the Earth, usage of nuclear & other weapons of mass destruction is prohibited. At the same time, the prohibition does not cover flying through space, moving along ballistic trajectory of warheads of intercontinental missiles. Under the international legal point of view, it is justified to carry special pistol TP-82, which is traditionally included in portable emergency supplies of Russian cosmonauts. Curiously, the realization of plans of USSR to test military space station "Skif " ("Polyus"), equipped with infrared chemical laser in the late 1980's was quite legitimate. Conversely, deployment of X-ray lasers with nuclear pumping (developed by U.S. within the scope of Strategic Defense Initiative program) in orbit would have become illegal because thermonuclear ammunition serves as the base for X-ray lasers with nuclear pumping. Pieces of slag due to operations of solid-propellant engines of satellites is the main source of centimeter-sized debris. NASA Photo Much strict regimen was established with respect to moon & other celestial bodies: they are used by all nations exclusively for peaceful purposes, it is prohibited to establish military bases, structures & reinforcements, testing of any type of weapons & conduct of military maneuvers on celestial bodies. It is interesting to note that, the current international space law is built on the basis of anthropocentric principles. In the last century, enthusiast of Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence & exobiology, Carl Sagan, expressed the opinion that, even if simplest forms of life are found on Mars, man-kind must recognize that Mars belongs to Martians & refrain from colonization of Mars. Similar principle of noninterference, is true with respect to possible forms of extraterrestrial intelligence, is reflected in many science fiction stories. However, this principle is not reflected in existing international law. Today, extraterrestrial intelligence, even it is the simplest of microorganisms, "green little men" or hypothetical thinking ocean, painted in "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem, is not seen as subject, with which the mankind could enter into any legal relationship. From a legal point of view, any forms of extraterrestrial life & intelligence - simply environment, like the flora & fauna of Earth, in other words, all of this – object but not the subject of legal relationships.
