| New York Governor George Pataki now has authorized the direct shipment of wine into and out of the state of New York. This signals a new era for wineries that have been hampered by alcoholic beverage laws that date back to 1933 and the repeal of Prohibition. Pataki said this represents an important step for New York wineries when he signed the legislation into law at Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars. Lamoreaux is located in the center of the growing Finger Lakes wine country in west-central New York. He believes that the Finger Lakes will rival or surpass California's Napa Valley in the future. |
