| The Pontiff, Pope John Paul, prayed for guidance about how long he should remain in office. This fact was revealed when the late Pontiff's Last Will and Testament was read. Presidents and Patriarchs have converged on Rome for the Pope's funeral. The Will was written in 2000 when the Pope turned 80. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease and was concerned about how long he should preside over the Roman Catholic Church in failing health. He appealed to God for guidance. He also asked God for strength to carry out his duties as long as he remained the head of the largest Christian church on the planet. |
