| | Goliath -- a seven plus year old monster buck -- that allegedly was stolen in 1999 from the ranch in which was raised -- and then returned to that ranch -- has died. The gigantic deer died on December 6th. Tests will be needed to determine the cause of death. The typical lifespan of a deer is between ten and fifteen years. Diane Miller, who raised the deer with her husband at the Wild Bunch Ranch which is about sixty miles from Pittsburgh, said she thought that the buck may have died from stress as a result of being taken. Goliath, the buck, is believed to the largest whitetail deer ever bred in captivity. The buck vanished from the ranch in October of 1999 when he weighed about 260 pounds and was estimated to be about 28 points. He was about two years old at the time.
