His decision lead to stormy debates in USA. Conservatives were of the point of view that the announcement was bold and inspiring while the liberals maintained that it was politically incorrect step, which will augment the chances of Barrack Obama's re-election. 42 yr old Paul Ryan, member of House of Representatives for 14 years, is viewed as one of the most influential congressmen- Republicans & popular among supporters of Tea Party, which takes a stand in favor of reduction in budget deficit by downsizing the government expenditure. As the Chairperson of House Budget Committee since 2010, Ryan recommended to sharply decrease the state machinery. Several conservative commentators endorsed the selection of Mitt Romney. In an online commentary for Fox News, Karl Rove, former adviser to President George W.Bush Jr, called Ryan as an "addition of star to candidate's list, who instills optimism & confidence in the nation & promises victory of Republican Party". Election campaign of Obama characterized Ryan as an ideologist, supporting the unpopular measures.
