| | Bill Lasher, Jr, indicates that he can easily remember what it was like going from being a high school jock playing varsity sports to being wheelchair bound. He noted that when you are in high school, there is great emphasis on being cool. He indicated that he felt that it was hard to be cool when confined to a crappy wheelchair. Lasher was paralyzed at 16 after being hit by a truck while skiing down an Anchorage roadway. Twenty years after the accident, Lasher is still creating and making cool wheelchairs. His wheelchairs not only provide mobility but are great to look at. Lasher established Lasher Sports LLC in March. He gets his inspiration from the custom chopper and mountain bike worlds. Currently, Lasher's designs take shape in a warehouse in Anchorage, complete with tube cutters, drill presses, tube benders and welders.
