| | A wedding is a solemn ceremony dedicated to the initiation of marriage. Different countries have many legends: signs, songs and rites related to marriage. In some cultures a wedding is followed by religious rites (wedding ceremony in Christianity and etc.).

Wedding as a ritualized make-up of marriage got special attention during the patriarchal period when a single marriage (monogamy) and shifting of spouses into bridegroom’s house (patriarchal marriage), was practiced. The main idea behind the wedding rituals in many cultures is the bride moving out of her parent’s home to grooms home, i.e. a dramatized version of a woman’s entry into a new family, a new family line. This event, as a rule, is followed by the exchange of gifts, a festive feast, merry-making and etc. Relatives of the groom and bride and also special ceremonial persons like matchmakers, groomsman and bridesmaids participate in the wedding. The content of these weddings varies.
Often a drama is played out, that the bride is forcibly taken away by the bridegroom and his friends and the resistance of her relatives to that and etc., this reflects a period in the history of marriage when the new (in comparison with the previous times) order of patriarchal village and submission of woman to the man and his relatives. During the dissolution of the patriarchal society, when for a woman considered to be a labor power, a certain payment was demanded (Veno among some European people, kalym among Mongolians, Turkic people and others), the “sale” of the bride came up in the staging of wedding rituals and along with that emerged the ritual of looking like she would be a brought bride. Many wedding rituals are associated with religious concepts, have a mystic sense, and are invoked to protect the newly married from “evil spirits”, “hoodoo” and etc. Many cultures, where the religious reverence of the hearth and home (patron of home) existed, movement of the bride from one family to another followed by a farewell of woman to the hearth and home of the parents and the dedication to the husband’s hearth and home. In weddings of Slavic couples, caucasians and many other people, grain, wheat flour, hops, various nuts etc, are heaped on the just married couple and stand for copiousness, prosperity and so on. Together with this developed ritual emerged a ritual dress code for the bride and groom and the participants of the wedding.

Japanese space company started offering wedding ceremonies in space. The price tag is $2.3 million for a flight in a small space vessel at up to 60 miles into the sky. During the hours-long flight the wedding ceremony will be conducted in zero gravity while the couple will be able to observe the Earth from space. The price includes the space ship reservation for the couple and up to three guests.
