Contest Directions: Current news is being dominated by growing tensions from both sides on possible attack on Iran. After some political muscle play and failed negotiations to stop the Iran plutonium enrichment program, US and Israel are ready to attack Iran, while Russia warned it won't tolerate an attack on Iran. Iran fired 9 test missiles as a threat. It looks like Iran, U.S., Israel and Russia are ready to make war, not love.
Take any non-war movie and give it a war theme. Some examples are: give uniforms and weapons to movie characters and movie posters, add military units, nukes, explosions, destruction, smoke. These are just some ideas.

This contest is fueled by the following news: War is a conflict between political formations (states, tribes, political groups etc.), occurring in the form of military actions between their armed forces. Under the formulation of Clausewitz, "war is a continuation of a policy by other means". As basic means of achievement of the purposes of war is organized armed struggle as the main means to solving economic, diplomatic, ideological and other means of struggle. In this sense, war is organized armed violence which purpose is the achievement of political ends. Total war is the armed violence finished to extreme limits. The main means in war is the army. Reasons of wars and their classification The principal cause of the occurrence of wars is the aspiration of political forces to use the armed struggle for achievement of various outward and internal political purposes. With the occurrence of the mass armies in the 19th century xenophobia (hatred, intolerance to someone or something to the stranger unfamiliar, unusual, perception of the stranger as not clear, incomprehensible, and therefore dangerous and hostile), came into the world-view. On its basis national, religious or social enmity is easily inflamed and consequently since the 2nd half of the X19th century, xenophobia is the basic tool for the fomentation of wars, direction of aggression, certain manipulations of crowds inside the state etc. On the other hand, the European societies that survived the destructive wars of the 20th century began to aspire to live in peace. Very often members of such societies live in fear of any shocks. * For propaganda purposes the wars traditionally are divided into just and unjust ones. Wars of liberation are just wars - for example, an individual or collective in self defense against aggression according to article 51 of the United Nations Charter or national liberation war against colonizers for the realization of the right to self-determination. In the modern world the wars, which are conducted by separative movements (Abkhazia, Ulster, Kashmir) are considered as fair wars, but they are not approved. Aggressive or wrongful (aggression, colonial wars) wars are unfair wars. In international law an aggressive war is qualified as an international crime. In the 1990's the concept of the humanitarian war appeared, which is formally an aggression for the sake of high aims: the prevention of ethnic purges or to give humanitarian help to the civilian population. * According the their scale wars are divided into world and local (conflicts). State of war The state of war brings about a number of legal effects. The termination of diplomatic and other relations between warring nations, the termination of the international contracts, etc. So, for example, all agreements between Russia and Japan about the demarcation of islands (Sakhalin and Kuril Islands), which were concluded in the 19thcentury, have become invalid in connection with the Russian-Japanese war 1904-1905, therefore any references to them are wrongful presently. War can come to the end with the unconditional surrender of one of the contradictory parties or with the peace treaty, which partially satisfies the participating parties. In any case war comes to an end with peace, which is usually defined as an absence of war or a condition of the removed contradictions. In the history of mankind there were about 15 thousand wars. Till the 19th century the wars had a rather narrow economic base and were fought as a rule, not by numerous professional armies. Since the second half of the 19th century and especially from the 20h century, wars demand enormous pressure on the economy of the belligerents and involve the population of many millions in a long struggle. In the First World War over 70 million people participated , in the Second World War - 110 million.
