| The American vending machine industry, after being heavily criticized as children and adults in the United States become fatter, is embarking on an anti-obesity campaign. The industry is trying to improve its image and is working to percent the removal of vending machines from schools. To this end, healthy snacks are being put into vending machines. The industry also has created so-called Balanced for Life computer software that will rate food choices on a color scale. Even though schools in Los Angeles removed vending machines, students are said to have found different sources for junk food. |
