Yes agree with AS, shadows would help & the Matador seems to be at a weird angle to the ground also it would be better to work with high-res images but for a 1st effort well done & welcome to the site

I agree about the shadowing. I've looked at this several times since it was entered and haven't decided whether the appearance of the image is source dependent or going for a painterly quality. Was wondering if the puppy was a Presa Canario . That would certainly throw you off balance.

tis a beautiful dog, all are though (i dont class small fluffy yappy things as dogs by the way)... I wouldnt mess with the filters too much in a peice like this, i think alot of voters are under the impression, and often right, that over filtering and small images are a sign of hiding bad masking/cutting. Get bigger images then needed, then you can zoom in silly amounts to erase/mask layers, and the if still not happy with the edges i put light inner shadows just to hide my drunken masking.... the dogs neck looks a lil wierd, but other then the neck, duplicate the dog and the matador then Ctrl E to merge them together, then press the f icon in the layers and select color overlay, overlay to black, then put that layer under the original, "Filter" then "Gaussian Blur" then Ctrl T, and move the shadow into a sweet position so the images dont look like they floating, now while still in transform mode, hold Ctrl while u move the anchor points to give your shadow some distortion..... this way rocks the sox off filter shadows.
