In his first public appearance since losing the recall election more than a month ago, Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante showed up Monday -- as he does every year -- at a turkey giveaway at FoodLink for Tulare County. Amid loading turkeys into trunks for local Tulare County agencies, Bustamante smiled. For 12 years, Bustamante has headed up a statewide turkey drive dubbed Operation Gobble. The event on Monday distributed about 500 turkeys to Tulare County agencies this year and 8,500 statewide.
