| Ted Koppel gave a most understated farewell when he signed off "Nightline" for good after anchoring the program for 25 years. He asked viewers to give his successors a chance, noting that if they did not do so, the network would insert another comedy program in the time slot. He will continue working with his long time producer, Tom Bettag, and is in negotiations to do documentaries for HBO.
