Following the controversial moment during the halftime of Sunday's Super Bowl Game when Janet Jackson's breast was exposed for all to see, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission has launched an investigation into the matter. FCC Chairman Michael Powell- announced the investigation and has telephoned the President of Viacom, Mel Karmazin. Viacom owns CBS, the television network that broadcast the breast baring incident. If an indecency violation ordered is issued by the FCC, Viacom could face a significant penalty. In addition, the 200 plus Viacom owned or affiliated local stations could face fines of up to $27,500 each. The agency can also pursue penalties against the performers involved, Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
