| | Martial arts legend and film star Bruce Lee is to be honored with the placement of a statue in the southern Bosnian city of Mostar. The statue is intended to be a symbolic protest against ethnic division, according to local authorities. Lee was chosen as the person that all ethnic groups in the area could relate to -- in a city that nearly ended being destroyed completely during the fierce fighting between Croats and Muslims during 1992 through 1995, a bitter period of war. City authorities gave a green light for the statue following a proposal by two local organizations, the head of Mostar's planning department reported to the media. The life size statue, made of bronze, will be placed in a city park within the next few months. |
