| This contest is fueled by the following news: |
| | It's official - the upcoming Star Trek XI film finally has a title chosen and
approved by its creators. Unlike wondering fans expected, the title
will have no Spok, New Generation, or Khan in it. The full title of
the movie will be simply Star Trek, no numbers or strings attached.
Write Robert Orci said, in the interview to MTV, that the fathers of
the classic Sci-Fi saga "don't want to put any columns or numbers into
it, and want to keep it simple."
J.J. Abrams was chosen as a movie director and gave his agreement.
Orci said that when he lined up the list of movie directors for the
film, Abrams was chosen without hesitations.
The sequel story line is not yet released to the public and media, but
there are rumors that it will be about Kirk and Spock's Starfleet
Academy - in the early days. Alex Kurtzman who is another one of the
"Trek fathers" left much room for speculations about the upcoming
movie plot, but said that it will have more action that any prequels
of the known saga. The budget for this movie will exceed any of its
previous films and is driven by the idea of bringing a broad audience
to the theaters to watch Star Trek for the very first time, Kurtzman
added.
Kurtzman and Orci noted that the film will have a lot of known
Hollywood stars it it. Literally they argued that you can not have
Trek without "star" in it, and will will have enough stars to win the
new audience in December movie theaters. Yes, it will be expensive,
but it's almost impossible to make a box office hit starting with a
low budget. Latest Hollywood box office winners normally have a huge
budget to earn even bigger revenues through ticket receipts, DVDs and
merchandise.
Star Trek XI is set to release on December 25, 2008, and it will be
the best Christmas present for the movie fans. |
