Also gone were the carnation colored sun visors, the lady's rose colored underwear and mauve stained coffee cups. Additionally, salmon tinted baby clothes also were completely out of stock. However, there were plenty T-shirts for football fans in bubble gum colors with slogans including "Locker Room Defense Fund" or "Give That Academia Nut Her Pink Slip." The roaring demand for all things pink reached a peak after an associate law professor at the University of Iowa petitioned university officials to repaint the visitor's locker room at Kinnick Stadium which is all pink at the present time. Jill Gaulding objected to the current color scheme because it sent a misogynistic message and represented an obstacle to gender equality on campus. Hawkeye fans responded by buying anything pink. They also sent out hundreds of emails, including some that were downright mean and nasty. For several decades, the visitor's locker room has been painted the color of cotton candy, allegedly to annoy the opposition teams. |
