| The Buffalo Sabres hockey team is trying a new colored ice surface that eventually could become standard in the NHL. They are using an ice that is colored what has been described as being a soft shade of blue. As a result, the traditionally blue lines have been replaced with orange. The first test of the new ice -- and lines -- comes Sunday when Rochester plays Cleveland at Buffalo. The Sabres offered to test out the new colored ice, a color which they have chosen to call electric powder blue. In order to try and offset the color of the ice, the formerly blue lines are now a fluorescent orange. |
