| | The sequel Spiderman 3 by Sony Pictures premiered in Japan this week.
Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst star tandem is in this sequel as
before, and they promise to their fans this is the best Spiderman
movie ever made. The film starts with settled down life of Peter
Parker (Maguire) who lives with his love interest Mary Jane Watson.
All goes smoothly until he finds a mysterious black suit which gives
him more powers, but at the same time raises some dark feelings of
bitterness and revenge from the past.
Spiderman 3 is scheduled to open in Europe and UK, at the end of April, and should hit the
American theaters on May 1. It's unusual for the Hollywood movies to
open in Japan before Europe and America, even though Sony headquarters
are in Japan. The reason for this opening is that last year local Japanese
movies have grossed larger receipts than late opening Hollywood flicks for the
first time in a long while. This can be explained by ever growing
quality of the local Japanese movies, whose productions studios inject
higher budgets in them based on the higher receipts.
Rumor has it that Spiderman 3 movie is the last film of the sequel.
That's why Sony Pictures made it so good, probably the best of the
three, with the budget of $250 million - higher than budgets of the previous two prequels.
Much of this production money went into creating the special effects
which can cost a pretty penny.
The previous two Spiderman movies have grossed more than $1.6 billion in the box
office receipts.
The official for Sony Pictures, however, said that they still entertain the
possibility of making another sequel, if they make a good script for
it and keep the star actors. But, he added, we are not going to make
another movie just because the previous three were successful.
Reputation of the company means more for us that just a quick money
making opportunity. We are targeting our customers, who look at Sony
Pictures as a company that makes the movies people love. SpiderMan 3 is
yet another product that shows what a quality modern movie should be
