| | The Democractic minority in the United States Senate forced that body into a rare closed door session. The Democtratic maneuver infuriated Republicans but extract a problem from the majority part promising to speed up an inquiry into the Bush Administration's handling of per-Iraq War intelligence. Without warning, the Democractic leader in the Senate invoked what is known as Rule 21, a little known or used procedural rule that forces aides to turn off the chambers television cameras and secure its massive doors after removing all visitors from the galleries. Reporters and most staff members were also ejected. A plan to bring in electronic bug sniffing dogs was dropped when it became clear that Senators would argue but would not discuss truly classified information during the closed door session. |
