| This contest is fueled by the following news: |
| | The ex Mr. Spears - Kevin Federline - has launched his own search
engine this week. Apparently he thinks Google and Yahoo are not doing
good job, so he decided to contribute his own little brick in building
the Internet technology. The search engine is called "Search With
Kevin" and offers a random draw of prises to people who use it to find
things on Internet. The daily search is limited to twenty times a day
per person, which is quite strange, considering he wishes to get more
traffic to make his endeavor famous. Britney Spears no underwear is one of the topics that people are looking for at "Search with Kevin."
Technically however, the whole idea is not as complex as one might
think from reading the news. Federline has done little to create the
search engine, let alone the search algorithms. What happened was the
company called Prodege approached Kevin with an offer to use its existing
technology and Federline's name as brand to their customized search.
The company already has several such deals with other celebrities -
mostly music bands and singers. According to the deal each "star"
gets percentages from clicks on advertisements in return for letting
use his/her name as a brand of customized search engines. Prodege is
powered by Yahoo and does not maintain its own Internet data, which
can be very expensive, especially if you want to compete with Google
and smaller kings of search. |
