Those of you who live in caves, like I do, will be pleasantly surprised to know that Scarlett Johansson who was named "prettiest" Woman Alive by Esquire magazine. The magazine hits the newsstands on Oct. 18, so you can read it for yourselves. While I was posting this contest, my girlfriend looked over my shoulder and jokingly asked me why I never call her the prettiest woman alive. I then jokingly asked her why she never looks like Scarlett Johansson. I'm sleeping on the couch tonight.

Scarlett Johansson (born November 22, 1984) is an American film actress and singer. She is best remembered for her roles in films such as "The Horse Whisperer"(1998), "Ghost World"(2001), "Lost in Translation" (2003) and "Girl with a Pearl Earring"(2003).

Early years:
Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984 in New York.
Her father, Karsten Johansson was an immigrant from Denmark & son of a novelist, scriptwriter and director, Ejner Johansson (1922-2001). Her mother, Melanie Sloan came from a family of American Jews. Since her parents divorced, Scarlett lived in two cities - New York & Los Angeles.
In New York, since childhood, Scarlett Johansson attended the Lee Strasberg acting school, but Scarlett's acting career started in Los Angeles: In 1992, she took part in off-Broadway production called "Sophistry", in which she appeared alongside with Ethan Hawke. Scarlett's older sister, Vanessa, is also an actress. Scarlett has an elder brother, Adrian, twin brother Hunter & half-brother, Christian.
In 2002, Johansson graduated from school in Manhattan, New York. In 2004, Scarlett Johansson participated in election campaign for John Kerry, U.S. presidential candidate from Democratic Party.
Scarlett Johansson is the face of advertising campaign of perfumes "Eternity Moment" of Calvin Klein. In 2006, she signed a contract with L'Oreal. Actress appeared in musical video clips of artists such as Bob Dylan & Justin Timberlake.

Scarlett Johansson got her first film role in the film "North", where she played together with young Elijah Wood. Several following roles of her went unnoticed. However, in 1996, Scarlett, played her first lead role in "Manny and Lo", for which she was nominated for Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female. Role of Grace MacLean in Robert Redford's "The Horse Whisperer", played by Scarlett in 1998, that brought first fame to the actress in USA.
Woody Allen's film "Match Point" was selected for showing at Cannes Film Festival 2005, received many positive critical reviews in the press, grossed nearly $ 80 million for a typical Woody Allen with a budget of 15 million & brought fourth Golden Globe nomination to Scarlet Johansson
One of the most recent projects, in connection of which, the name of actress is mentioned - historical drama "The Other Boleyn Girl," where Scarlett played with Natalie Portman & Eric Bana. Johansson does not believe in monogamy & believes that it is not characteristic of human being to lead life with a single partner. She undergoes HIV tests twice in a year & she feels "disgusting" and " irresponsible" when people do not undergo HIV tests.
On questions about religion, Johansson says that "it is very personal". She celebrates Christmas, & Hanukkah. She does not like when celebrities thank God or Jesus while receiving the awards.
