Improbably enough, the Rover was plucked off Mars by Zaphod Beeblebrox's ship the Heart of Gold and pressed into service as a remote controlled beverage trolley.

(and yes, it makes little to no sense at all if you're not familar with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.)
