| | Rose (Latin - Rosa) is a type of plants of the family of Rosaceae. Wild plants grow, mainly, in moderate zone. Total counted are 400 different types of wild rose. Usually plants have shrub or liana shape. In classical depiction, rose has 32 petals, hence is the name rose of winds. As on today rose is the most purchasable flower in the world.
Cultivation
Wild rose is widespread in the Middle East, the Caucasus including Azerbaijan and grows in forest margins, ravines and roadsides. All branches of the plant, even leafstalks and middle veins are covered with sharp prickles. These prickles defend plant from eaten away by animals, and also acts as a hindrance in extra evaporation of water.
Use
Perfume industry
Rose is used in perfume industry as its (rose oil) and for creating new varieties of perfumes. Rose oil (majority of it is synthetic) is a component in 40% of men's and 98% of women's perfumes. French perfumers have high regard for roses grown near Grasse city and from plantations of Rose valley in Bulgaria.
Medical industry
Medicinal values of rose were known from antiques. However, today's western medicine rarely uses rose, at the same time in the East, rose did not lose its fame.
In the middle ages, many diseases were treated with rose: disorders in menstruation periods, headache, stomach disorders, stagnant feelings in liver, fever (plague), eye infections and skin diseases.
Cuisine use:
Rose is often used in kitchen for flavoring. And also well known is jam made out of rose petals.
