| This contest is fueled by the following news: |
| | There is a policy of the United States Postal Services that it will not issue a stamp to honor a prominent American until he or she has been deceased for a period of ten years. There is an exception to the rule when it comes to former U.S. Presidents, however. Former U.S. Presidents can be honored after their first birth anniversary following their death. Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911, and died June 5 of this year. Postmaster General John E. Potter, in announcing the Reagan stamp, said that the postal service is proud to add Ronald Reagan to the list of people who are honored in commemorative stamps. The actual design of the stamp is a work in progress at this time.
