| The President-elect Barrack Obama on Wednesday called upon the governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich, arrested on corruption charges and released on bond and urged to retire, informs Associated Press (AP), referring to a press release of the White house.
“Under the current circumstances, it is very difficult for the governor to effectively fulfill his duties and serve the people of Illinois”, - press-secretary of the White house Robert Gibbs conveys the message of Barrack Obama.
Blagojevich was arrested on Tuesday on the corruption charges and released on the security of 4.5 thousand dollars and an undertaking about not leaving the country.
Also the governor, John Harris, head of the machinery, was also arrested.
According to the investigation, the governor participated in a deal to sell a seat in the senate, which was occupied by Barack Obama before his election to President of the USA, for the profit of himself and his wife says CNN.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also has information that 51year-old Blagojevich and 46 year-old Harris threatened to withdraw federal support to the media group Tribune Co if Tribune Co. does not dismiss members of the editorial board of one of the newspapers which criticized the governor.
Blagojevich rejects the charges framed against him.
Earlier Оbama stated that he considers it inappropriate to make any comments on this issue since he is not aware what actually has happened.
