The time frames of retro style are a little ambiguous, but the majority of fashion designers and critics tend to rank all fashions from the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century as retro style. Therefore, much older things are ranked as antiques and much younger (from 50 to 20 years) - to vintage, from 20 to 5 years – second-hand and less than 5 years are considered as modern. Furniture, books, paintings, posters, cars, household goods etc are items, which are most often ranked as the retro style. The mass-scale enthusiasm towards the retro style can envelop not only purely material objects but also penetrate into the speech and language of populations of a certain epoch. |
