Rene Magritte Paintings
Contest Directions: This Friday the artistic world is cerebrating the 110th birthday of Rene Magritte - Belgian surrealist artist. His surreal works are not only visually impressive, but often thought-provoking. His series of paintings titled "The Treachery of Images" shows the realistically drawn objects captioned "Ceci n'est pas..." (French for "This is not..."). His famous image of a pipe is captioned "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ("This is not a pipe"). As Magritte himself commented: "The famous pipe. How people reproached me for it! And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it’s just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture ‘This is a pipe,’ I’d have been lying!" Rene started his career as a designer at a wallpaper factory, and later was a poster and advertisement designer. His first personal exhibition in Brussels in 1921 got horrible critics reviews. Real fame came to Magritte in 1960 (shortly before his death in 1967) when his paintings influenced pop art and culture.
To celebrate the 110th birthday of Rene Magritte, photoshop any of his paintings. Some examples are: show how he would have created his works in the modern days, what people or objects he would choose, etc. (If you use any of his nude sources, please cover the models in bikini to make them safe for work).

        • Nah Pepper, i've been good for 'bout 6 years now. I think the reflection should be right side up. The sentence is in front of the likeness of a bong, so the glass is reflecting the back of the sentence which is still the right way..........right?
Now u got me confused. If i don't actually hold it in, does it make it an actual relapse?
        • Oh i c what u mean now. If the sentence was on the table with the bong, yes it should be flipped. I saw it as the sentence floating in front of the bong, not on the table. If i put it on the table, i would have put the sentence at a slight perspective with the table.....now i rambling like a tweaker, thanx :o
        • Jeez, now I'M confused!
          Nice chop, anyway.

          by Tracy Mapes

SACRAMENTO,California--In America, it has long been held that there is a sacred bond between the United States Government, and the People of the United States.

That bond is the unbendable document called the Constitution of the United States, and, as I am about to embark, this bond has been broken by the Corruption of Our Central Bodies of Government, Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, Agency, and the Press.
This means that while Americans have been kept busy with the non-essential, info-tainment of the Press, both Print and Broadcast, these bodies along with all key positions in the Government of the United States, have been subverted and replaced with loyalist Felons and Street Prostitutes as legitimate Journalists, Political Appointees, Judges, and even Entertainment Personnel.

This means that along with the Silent Subversion of the 1st Amendment of Our Constitution, a facade of disinformation has cloaked the atrocity with unfounded fears of the necessity to increase the National Security risks assessed to convince the Citizens of the United States that loss of their personal freedoms, restriction on travel, and the production of “Fake News” in warranted to maintain the Secrecy of the Criminal Enterprise Our Government has become.

I became aware of this situation in quite an unconventional manner.

As I have described over the past 8 years, to United States Government agencies including the Department of Defense, Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Congress, the United States Senate, and News Media alike, without material response, I met over 150 Pimps, Prostitutes, and Individuals involved in criminal acts in the related to the before mentioned street crimes on the streets of Sacramento, California during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Since my involvement with these persons over a 7 year period, 2 of the persons involved in narcotics use and prostitution have become Presidents of the United States of America.

With the addition of a First Lady, a Supreme Court Justice, State Senator, City Mayor, and County District Attorney of Sacramento, there are nearly 150 persons that have been placed, appointed, hired, or infiltrated into the Newsrooms of America.
One could look at this as a miracle of some great proportion, but in fact, the pattern sings of racketeering, espionage, and the criminal manipulation of All Avenues of Control and Command of the United States Government and the Media.

And, after engaging in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America ...I find this UN-Acceptable!
The Red ‘X’ Society was formed as an Idea, to redress this wrong, and hold those accountable for this Horrific Tragedy of United States Government Miss-Management, and urge All Americans to display the Red ‘X’ until this matter is resolved in accordance with the written word of the U.S. Constitution.

This contest is fueled by the following news: Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte (1898—1967) was a Belgian surrealist artist. He was popular as the author of witty, and at the same time, poetically mysterious images. Biography: Magritte was born on November 21, 1898 in the small town of Lessines, in Belgium. He spent his childhood and youth in the small industrial city of "Charleroi" where life was rather difficult. In 1912, his mother drowned in the River Sambre, which probably rendered a huge impression on the then teenager and future artist, however, contrary to the stereotyped view, it is not necessary to overestimate its influence on the creativity of the author. Magritte has taken out a number of other memoirs from his childhood, not so tragic, but no less mysterious memoirs about which he said that they found reflection in his creations (lecture of 1938). For two years, Magritte attended the Royal Academy of Fine arts in Brussels, which he left in 1918. During this period, he met Georgette Berger, whom he married in 1922 and with whom he lived till his death in 1967. Magritte worked as a poster and advertisement designer in a wallpaper factory till 1926, when the contract with Brussels Galerie la Centaure allowed the artist to fully devote himself to painting.
