The pumpkin type Lagenaria (Cucurbita Lagenaria L.), bottle pumpkin or grass hopper is related to a type of Cucurbita. Only one kind is known: L. vulgaris Ler., with many cultural varieties, having the name depending on the shape of the fruits: gourd, flask of wanderer, Hercules clava, kernel, sphere, greedy (up to 1 m length) and others — all these are so called figure pumpkins. Their stems are lengthy, twisting, soft – hairy; leaves are rounded – egg shaped, slightly lobar or polygonal, flowers are big, white, petals are free; fruits are non-edible (used for vessels) or edible. The origin of this plant is tropical Africa and the east Indies.
Once in your life time you bought (or grow on a windowsill) a pumpkin. You brought this excellent orange colored watermelon home and … cut the internal things from it, you made cutouts in the form of eyes and mouths, and you set the candle inside and put it in a dark room, in order to scare the guests who have come for Halloween.
