The birds are slated to be released in August, with each bird carrying a GPS satellite tracking receiver, air pollution sensors and a basic mobile phone. Text messages regarding air quality will be beamed to scientists in real time and to a special pigeon blog, a journal that will be available generally on the Internet. In addition, minature cameras fastened around the pigeons' necks will also take and post aerial photographs. |
