| Pigs (Suidae) are a family of nonruminant (cloven-hoofed) artiodactyls.
Pigs are native to Eurasia and Africa however thanks to human
influence, pigs are available on all continents and everywhere partly
formed wild population.
Compact body structure, protruding head with sharp snout and short
legs are characteristic for pigs. As in all other artiodactyls, their
fingers grow together in hoof-shape end. Snout is used specially for
loosening the soil and sometimes auxiliary adaptations in the form of
tusks or warted projections are present in pigs.
Majority of pigs are inhabitants of forests. Pigs are good swimmers.
Since pigs are omnivorous, they eat both vegetative and all sorts of
animals. Exists a misconception that, pigs like lying in mud;
actually, by being in mud, pigs get rid of skin parasites: After
drying up, the mud falls off along with parasites.
Most widespread nonruminants with protruding head, ending with snout,
on which, nostrils open, belong to this family. Limbs have four toes
with well developed short side toes. Tusks are big and upper tusks are
bent; Canine teeth are blunt-pimpled. Stomach is simple with
additional bag. Pigs are omnivorous. Pigs appeared in lower Oligocene
of Europe and then spread to Asia and Africa. 9 modern species form 5
families.

legend, Pig was the last one to have appeared on the New Year’s Eve.
