| | American presidential elections 2008 promise to be full of surprises. It is
the first election where the two front runners are minorities - a
woman and a black person. Not only this woman - Hillary Clinton - will
be the first woman US president if she wins, she'll be the first one
to have a spouse who also was a president. In case of her victory,
Clintons will take over the White House for the second time, - a clear
case of political dynasty in power, just like Bushes who were holding
the white house for 12 years. If Clinton wins 2008 election, this will
make it over 20 years for the White House in the hands of these two
political families - dynasties. Father and son from one family, and
husband and wife from another. Some people see Bill Clinton as milf hunter, but even they admit he was a decent politician.
Another big surprise this elections, is of course Barack Obama. There
were other black presidential candidates before, but none of them was
in the front runners for the victory. That's even more interesting,
considering the fact that Obama firmly said he has no plans to run,
just last year. Months ago he changed his statement to the one where
he's "considering it". Then he formally announced his presidential
bid. Who's going to win the White House is still not certain yet.
There's over a year till the vote - a long time to allow for a change
in candidates' ratings. Plus the forecasts which are measured now, are
only that - forecasts. In politics things change faster then weather
does. One thing is certain - this is going to be a very tight race
with the fight for every single vote, and the front runners are not
going to let it go until all the voting polls are closed. Perhaps even
after it, if we recall the infamous Florida recount of 2000. Good luck
to our candidates, and God help us all. |
