Contest Directions: Pac-Man, the most popular video game of all times, is now released on the Xbox 360. So even though this hungry little fella has just celebrated his 26th anniversary (first release in 1980), we still think of Pac-Man when we think of video games. I don't know how many hours I played this game, but it was A LOT... Why do we love this game? First it's real simple, and ANYONE, literally anyone can play it. I have read that somebody trained a monkey to play Pac-Man (no kidding). Second, it represents the ideal life for guys, so to speak, -- eating as much as you like and not getting fat, "scoring", and "popping cherries", and getting away from ghosts... and if you screw up, you always have an extra life left. Nice. Real nice. There's a natural Pac-Man living in every one of us. Think about it next time you yawn, and look in the mirror. In this contest you are asked to photoshop one of the following: 1) Pac-Man character(s) appearing in famous paintings, advertisements or products 2) Pac-Man character(s) appearing in the things they do not belong. E.g. Pac-Man-shaped tomato 3) Animals or people with Pac-Man like heads 4) "Pac-Man characters in real life" - take the game out of the screen and put them in real-life photos (eating real life things, chasing real life people and animals). Make an effort to 3-Dimensionalize your Pac-Men. Simple 5 minute copy-paste flat Pac-Men will be disqualified. P.S. Do you know how Pac-Man came into this world, btw? In 1979, the future game's designer, Toru Iwatani was having dinner with his friends at one of the Tokyo pizzerias. When he saw the pizza after a slice had been removed, he was inspired by the shape, and came up with the idea of so shaped hungry little fella eating things. 15 months later Namco released Pac-Man.

This contest is fueled by the following news: The original Pac-Man game was introduced onto the market 26 years ago. With that said, Pac-Mac is making a next generation appearance on the Xbox 360. In the famous 1980 video game era, people could be found playing PacMan everywhere. Some gamers actually do consider Pac-Man to be the most important computer game of all time. Senior Vice President Stuart Snyder of Gametap said that Pac-Man has remained a game that people love to embrace, that people have loved to play for years. With its introduction on Xbox 360, Pac-Man will now be introduced to a whole new generation of avid players and fans. History of PacMan video game: The game was primarily developed by the employee of Namco Topy Company, Iwatani in 18 months duration. The original title was pronounced pakku-man and was inspired by the Japanese poetic phrase paku-paku taberu. Frequently it is mentioned that Iwatani was inspired by a piece of pizza. In the year 1986, during an interview he confirmed it that it was half-truth: and the character design also came from simplifying and rounding out the Japanese character for mouth, kuchi as well as the basic concept of eating and gave him the form of mouth. Iwatani tried to make the game interesting for wide range of generations besides normal boys and teenagers, and eventually he added elements of maze to the game. In the result he coined the name PUCK MAN. When it was launched in Japan in 1979, it has got a lukewarm response as the games like Space Invaders or Defender were popular at that time. However the following year Midway Company from USA has picked up the game. Game was named as Pac-Man for the reason that PUCK MAN was very near to an abusive word and vandals would have changed it very easily, which would have killed the game from the root. However in Europe there are playing machines as PacMan and also PUCK MAN. American public received the game warmly, which was given as an alternative to Space Invaders and which stood for an unexampled popularity and income that rivaled its successful predecessor, as even Iwatani was impressed with U.S. sales. The game soon became a worldwide phenomenon within the video game industry, resulting in numerous sequels and merchandising tie-ins. PacMan’s success bred imitation, and an entire genre of maze-chase video games soon emerged. The game style was copied frequently but none from the clones could excel the original. When Midway launched PacMan in USA, the design of the playing machines was also changed. Namco’s style was costlier and less approached the American market. PUCK MAN was colored white in color, and on that were multicolored pictures. Pac-Man was colored in yellow color, pictures were simple and memorable. All 255 stages shall be covered in the game. Maximum quantity of points was recorded on 3rd July 1999 in Hollywood: Billy Mitchell gained 3333360 points. For this to take place he had to spend 6 hours. He collected all dots, all power pellets, all fruits, ate all ghosts of 255 stages. Manufacturers of this video game were astonished with the success of the video game. The popularity of the game increased ratings of Asteroids, arcades with huge sales. 350000 units of Pac-Man playing Machines were divided. The game was so popular that on its basis have evolved many pirates in the beginning of 80’s. Unique game design forced manufacturers of the game to reconsider the idea of endless alien’s invasion. Pac-Man introduced an element of humor into video games that designers sought to imitate, and appealed to a wider demographic than the teenage boys who flocked to the action-oriented games. Many popular video games of 80s some way or other must of its existence Pac-Man: Q*Bert, Donkey Kong, Frogger.
