David Copperfield, the reknowned illusionist, escaped being robbed. Following his show in a performing arts center in West Palm Beach, Florida, Copperfield was walking with two of his female assistants, heading back to their tour bus. Four teenagers pulled up in a black car. Two of the youths were armed and demanded the groups belongings, according to police. One of Copperfield's assistants handed over $400 and the other surrendered her purse. Copperfield for his part refused to empty his pockets, the police report said. Copperfield indicated that he turned his pockets inside out to reveal nothing contained in them -- when he in fact had his passport, a wallet and a cell phone. Copperfield, in an interview with the Palm Beach Post, stated that you might call what he did reverse pick pocketing. |
