| The Olympics Games organizers ordered beefed-up security at all venues after an embarrassing breach involving a Canadian man who jumped into the pool during a synchronized diving event. The order to step up security was launched after the 31-year-old, dressed in a tutu and clown shoes, mounted one of the boards and plunged into the water during the competition Monday evening.

The color of the rings in the top layer is blue for Europe, black for Africa, red for America, in the bottom layer - yellow for Asia and green for Australia. Besides Olympic types of sports, the organizing committee has the right to voluntarily include in the program 1-2 demonstration kinds of sports which have been not recognized by the IOC. The same year, as with the Olympic Games, the winter Olympic Games were held in 1924 and they too have the numbering. The place of organizing the Olympiad is chosen by the IOC, the right of the games organization is given to a city, but not to a country. The duration of the games should be no more than 15 days (the winter games - no more than 10).
