| | An Ecuadorean woman who is 116 years old has been declared the oldest person in the world. The title has been taken from a U.S. woman who previously was thought to be the oldest person alive, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Maria Esther Capovilla was confirmed to be the oldest person alive in the planet after her family sent details of birth certificate to the folks at Guinness. Kate White, from Guinness Records, indicated that the record breaker is in good health, has good sight and doesn't walk with a stick.
