| | Steve Jobs, the chief executive officer of Apple Computer, Inc., has introduced a cut rate computer onto the market that is the size of a paperback. The product was introduced on Tuesday. In addition, a tiny iPod that retails starting at $99 but that holds far fewer songs that the hard drive music players also hit the market. The new products are designed to make headway against what had been the more affordable PC market and the lower cost competitors to Apple's iPod. The Mac mini computers actually will go on sale on January 22nd. This represents Apple's first venture into the budget or discount desktop PC market.

In August 2009, Steve Jobs was selected as the most esteemed entrepreneur among teenagers during a survey by Junior Achievement. On November 5, 2009, Fortune named Jobs as CEO of the decade. In November 2009, Steve Jobs occupied 57th spot in the list of "The World's Most Powerful People" by Forbes. In December 2010, the Financial Times named Jobs as person of year.

Due to his young age, big stature and charisma, Steve Jobs became a symbol of his company and field after founding Apple. Jobs figured in three films on the history of personal computers:
• "Triumph of the Nerds" – a three series documentary film in 1996 for PBS about the eminence of the home computer / personal computer;
• "Nerds 2.0.1" – a 1998 three series documentary film for PBS (sequel to "Triumph of the Nerds") about the chronology of the development of the Internet;
• "Pirates of Silicon Valley" – a docudrama, made in 1999, in which the growth of Apple and Microsoft is narrated. Noah Wyle portrayed the character of Steve Jobs.
After resigning from the post of CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs was characterized as the Thomas Edison of his time.
