| Former football star, who was acquitted in the murder case of his wife in 1995, was again arrested on Sunday on the charges of robbery using a deadly weapon in Palaca Station hotel room in Las Vegas.
60 year old O.J. Simpson was arrested by police in Las Vegas soon after the armed robbery was committed in hotel Palms.
«I do not regret anything. I did not do anything to start proving my innocence», stated Simpson in an interview to reporters on Sunday. He told Reuters: » How can I rob somebody or even think of it, which makes slip things out of my hands? You should understand that I am not the guy, who commits robbery due to narcotics or money; I just took back the items, which belongs to me. So, this is not robbery».
According to the Police, Simpson is charged with robbery using a deadly weapon as well as conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and coercion. During questioning, Simpson admitted taking the items from the room of Palace Station, in which memorabilia dealers were staying and had the trophies and memorabilia of footballer. Simpson admitted that he just wanted to take back the items, which were stolen from him, informs «24 Hours».
Simpson admits that one of his friends found that the stolen items are with two memorabilia dealers and agreed to meet them in casino Palace Station by introducing himself as potential buyer of rare items. Turning up at casino to meet the memorabilia dealers in place of his friend, Simpson according to his words, explained the situation and quietly took back his items. Mr. Simpson refutes the allegations that neither he nor his friends were carrying arms and did not threaten anybody.
However, Police, based on the testimony of memorabilia dealers, informed that at least one of the members, who accompanied Simpson, had gun with him and even threatened to use it.
O.J. Simpson got scandalous popularity in 1994 when he was an accused in the murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her boyfriend Ronald Goldman. In spite of evidence of crime, argumentative against the former footballer, advocates of Simpson managed to get “not guilty” verdict.
However, later on, the families of the victims won a case in civil court. The civil court gave out a verdict to Simpson to pay $33.5 million. Till date, Simpson did not pay the entire amount to the victim’s families. |
